Day Three- As the world turns

 In General

The rain finally let up last night.  This morning the fog was pretty intense, but was beautiful laying in the low valleys.  The higher mountain tops were still visible over the fog, for a very cool visual treat.

Today was all about turning!  We had nine pieces total to turn today.  We had 3 stretchers, 4 legs and 2 arm rests on the agenda today.  I was able to get all of the stretchers completed and three legs.  I still need to finish the 4th leg tomorrow and the two arm rest pieces.  I consider myself a wood tuner, a very experience turner, but my hat is off for the guys who are production turners.  Our instructors for the chair class can turn out the chair components at dizzying speeds.  I enjoy turning, and am very slow when it comes to the actual output of pieces.  I only do woodturning as a hobby, so I have not had to turn pieces at a production pace.  This was a problem for me today, I was not able to keep pace with the output!  I have some catching up to do tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, we will be addressing the chair seat tomorrow.  The seat carving will again be a physically intense task.   I will keep you posted with some shots of stuff from the seatstravaganza lined up for tomorrow!

Here are some shots of pieces that were completed on the lathe today-
